Our COO, Debbie Jones, had the privilege of attending the Women in Cyber Wales event: Securing the Future: Women in Cyber, where she immersed herself in a day full of insights, networking, and celebration of women’s achievements in the industry. At PRPR, we have women in leadership positions, and events like these resonate deeply with our commitment to championing diversity and inclusion in the cyber security industry.
A Day of highlights
Among the many highlights of the event was the keynote addresses delivered by Mary Haigh and Heather Lowrie. This offered valuable perspectives on the current landscape and future trends in cybersecurity.
Additionally, Nuala Kilmartin’s presentation on UKRI’s Digital Security by Design (DSbD) initiative shed valuable light on innovative approaches to enhancing digital security, further emphasising the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing cyber threats.
Celebrating achievements
The event also provided a platform for celebrating achievements within the industry, including recognition of the CyberFirst Girls winners. This initiative not only showcases the talent and potential of young women in cyber security but also the importance of nurturing and supporting the next generation of professionals in the field.

Debbie also had the opportunity to gain insights from panel discussions, such as the one focusing on skills and qualifications, featuring esteemed panellists including Debi McCormack, Linda Smith, Nicholas Poyiadgi, Awais Rashid, and Bryan Lillie FCIIS MIET. These discussions delved into critical topics such as professional development, diversity in skill sets, and the evolving nature of qualifications in cybersecurity.
